December 2012

The U11 Girls Loomis Storm battled through 'stormy' conditions over the December 15-16th weekend to win all four contests at the Boca Copa del Rey (King's Cup) tournament. The girls took care of business on Day I shutting out both opponents and scoring 14 goals (by multiple players) in very chilly conditions. In the semi-finals, in a rematch of Norcal State Cup action, the Storm outscored the California Cougars 3-1 to move on to the finals (under the lights) to face-off against the tournamant host, Boca. After falling behind early, the girls evened the score shortly before half-time and took the lead for good mid-way through the second half to earn a hard fought battle in an extremely physical game. Great job Storm!!! See you in January after three weeks of much deserved rest!!!

September 2012

The U15G Loomis Arsenal placed second at the 31st Annual ARYSL Goal Rush Classic at Cherry Island the weekend of September 29th & 30th. Although missing several players the first day of play due to high school sport commitments, the Arsenal was able to get two wins 2-0 and 5-1 with a little help from guest players Cassidy Marquez and Karly O’Sullivan of the Loomis Freedom. Sunday morning's game was the hardest of the prelims and the Arsenal prevailed with a well played 2-1 victory. The girls made it to the championship match battling throughout the first half and at half time we were at 0-0. However, it was short lived and we were scored on at the 35th minute of play followed up by another strong goal from the Redding Adrenaline. Arsenal, sucked it up and continued to battle till the end. With several good shots on goal but none that made it across the goal line. The girls had an amazing weekend of fun and soccer with each other.

Congratulations to the U12 Loomis Cosmos for their 1st place finish at the 2012 Roseville Fall Classic. With dominant performances over the County Line United (6-0) and Sierra Gold Cougars (4-0) and a hard fought 1-1 draw with the 49er Strikers in flight play, the Cosmos met an undefeated Folsom Crew in the championship match at Kaseberg Park in Roseville. The Cosmos returned to their dominant form, besting the Crew 2-0 to take their 2nd Roseville Fall Classic in as many years.

The U11G Storm captured the championship at the Roseville Fall Classic September 29 and 30th shutting out all four opponents over the weekend. The girls tied their first opponent, the Natomas Cyclones, before earning 5-0 victories over Capital Valley Spicy Girls and the Roseville Arsenal. In the championship game, the girls withstood the heat and physical play by the Pacifica Strikers to battle to 0-0 tie after regulation and two overtime periods. The Storm prevailed in penalty kicks 3-2 to earn the championship! Girls celebrated in style and enjoyed the camaraderie throughout the weekend.

The Girls Under 13 Loomis Blaze brought home 2nd Place trophies from the American River Goal Rush Tournament at Cherry Island over the weekend of September 29th & 30th. The girls won all of their prelim games in shutouts, 4-0 against the Rocklin Aftershock, 1-0 against the Lodi Storm, and 5-0 against the Madera Monsters. Unfortunately, they met the Elk Grove Fusion with a loss in the Championship Game 1-0. The girls played great and had a fun weekend of soccer.

Congratulations to the U10B Galaxy who placed 2nd in the 2012 Roseville Fall Classic. In flight play, the team played extremely well with convincing wins over the Eel River Rapids, El Dorado Hills Hawks, and Roseville Gunners. Sunday's championship game found the team squaring off against a very good River City Arsenal, who got the better of the Galaxy 5-2. Still a great weekend of soccer and a very successful 2nd place finish.

U10G Lightning Place 3rd at the 2012 Roseville Fall Classic. The girls finished the weekend 3 -1 and outscored their opponents 14 to 4, winning all three games by shutouts. Unfortunately all four goals allowed came in one game against a very tough East Sacramento team, that one loss kept the team from making the championship game based on points. For the consolation championship game, the Lightning played to a 2-0 victory over the Rocklin Royals.

August 2012

The U14G Freedom played in the Tiburon Fall Kick Off the weekend of August 25th. To go to the championship game, the team won their pool play 6-0, 5-0, and 4-0. They then faced the Mustang Strykers in the final and won 3-1. The opponents in pool play were not as strong as in previous years, but another win against the Mustang Club was very rewarding.

The U15B Loomis Forza participated in the Rocklin Quarry Classic and like their older brothers (Loomis Crew), went undefeated scoring 12 goals and allowing 2. While the team was tied in points, a 1 point differential bumped them to the consolation game, which they won 4-1 taking 3rd place in the tournament.

They then faced the 49er Scream in the championship game and won 3-2. The team has been suffering from multiple injuries and as a result had one sub the entire tournament. With two afternoon games with temperatures above 95 degrees, it was challenging, so it was a satisfying win.

Congratulations to the U10 Lightning for their second place finish at the 2012 Lincoln Invitational. After outscoring their opponents 10 to 2 in pool play and reaching the championship game this past weekend in Lincoln, the Lightning battled the host team for the trophy but came up short falling to the Lincoln Surge and their loud home crowd 2 to 0.

Congratulations to the U10 boys Galaxy who overcame 100+ degree heat and some stiff competition to win the 2012 Hot August Blast Off tournament. The Galaxy dominated the RC Revolution in their opening game, 5-0, returning to the pitch in 107 degree weather to battle the Folsom Gunners to a 3-3 tie in the afternoon. On Sunday, the Galaxy made quick work of the Eureka Fire with a 4-1 win to set-up a championship match with the host Eureka Samba in the afternoon. Trailing by 1 point, the team needed a win - a tie or loss would send them home with a 2nd place finish. The boys did not disappoint with a dominating 4-0 win to take the championship.

The Loomis Wolverines U11 boys played in the 2012 Gold Rush Classic the weekend of August 11th. The team played the Cal Blues Force, El Dorado Hills Lightning and the 49er Green Bombers in the preliminary round winning all 3 games scoring 18 goals and allowing 2. The girls played amazing and still brought home medals and a trophy to Loomis with their 2nd place finish. Way to go girls. Go Blaze!

The Loomis Wolverines U11 boys comp team traveled to Santa Cruz to play in the Breakers Cup over the weekend of July 28th & 29th. The team played well, shutting out their first 2 opponents on Saturday, 4-0 and 1-0. It was a fun tournament and the team looks forward to returning next year.

Congratulations to the Comp U12 Loomis Cosmos for their 2nd place finish in the 2012 Peach Classic. The team won their first game 3-2 against a tough Chico Cobras team, only to face an even tougher opponent in the InterRage Cosmos, falling 4-2 in a hard fought and physical battle. Sunday morning found the Cosmos firing on all cylinders and dominating the Ethos FC Saints for a 5-1 win. That win set up a rematch in the championship game with the InterRage Cosmos, who got the better of the Loomis club, 2-0, behind a strong performance from their keeper.

U10 Loomis Lightning Finish 3rd in 2012 Peach Classic. After some very stiff competition in pool play, the Lightning were able to face off against the SSA Tornados for third place.  Despite the extremely hot conditions and playing a very physical opponent, the Lightning were able to overcome a 1-0 deficit at halftime and pull out the 2-1 victory.

May 2012

Congratulations again to the U11 Storm who wrapped up their first tournament of the season on Sunday, May 27th, finishing second in the Tracy Orange Bowl, losing in penalty kicks to Ajax Premier, which was ranked in the top 12 of Norcal standings. The two teams also finished even in the opening match of the tourney. In pool play, the Storm beat Inter Rage 2-0 in extreme windy conditions before winning semi-final match against Burlingame on Sunday morning.

May 2012

The U9 Loomis Wolverines played in the the Placer United Cup on Memorial Day weekend. It was an outstanding start for the new teams season. We played Placer United, Sac United and Elk Grove Academy in the Gold Division round robin doing well enough to put us into the Championship game. We lost in the finals taking second place for the tournament. Great finish for our youngest boys team, they are looking forward to a very competitive season to come.
